How Healing with Colour works

When something in your life is not feeling right — when you feel anxious for no reason, when stress keeps you awake at night, when your mind is crowded with thoughts — these are not random. They are signals. Something is waiting to be discovered and released from your mental or emotional state. One of the most direct ways to do this is through colour.

Many people ask: “How can colour work as a healing tool?” The answer is that colour speaks directly to both the body and the subconscious. Every colour is a wavelength of light, and each wavelength interacts with the nervous system in its own way. Colour affects our moods, our choices, and even our sense of confidence and power. It does this through the limbic system — the emotional brain — and through the subconscious beliefs we absorb in childhood.

Let me tell you the story of one client.

He came to me highly stressed, unable to sleep, and struggling in his relationship. On his intake form he wrote: “I hate red.” That caught my attention. When I asked why, he recalled an incident from when he was four years old. He had witnessed a car accident. In the blur of fear, he saw blood — red — and his child’s mind magnified it. Even if there was little blood, red became a symbol of pain, death, and fear.

This single imprint shaped his life. As an adult, he found it hard to settle in his career, to commit to his partner, to feel rooted in himself. On a subconscious level, red had become a threat. And red is the colour linked to the root chakra — the energy of grounding, stability, and security. So while the colour itself was neutral, his mind and body carried a frozen association that blocked his ability to feel safe in “putting down roots.”

In our session, we uncovered this early memory and began to unfreeze the energy held around it. Then I worked with specific colours to restore balance: red (to reframe the root energy), turquoise (to release constriction), and magenta (to integrate the spiritual body, which also carries red within its spectrum). Using kaleidoscopic light and crystal projection, we bathed his field in each frequency for 20 minutes.

The result was immediate. The fear loosened, his breath softened, and he no longer recoiled from red. In fact, he began wearing red t-shirts, and his relationship — once paralysed by fear of commitment — began to stabilise.

This is the power of colour. It is not the pigment itself that heals, but the way it speaks to the subconscious and nervous system. Colour bypasses words and enters the body as vibration. When used with intention, it can unhook old patterns and invite coherence back into our lives.

Healing with colour is both simple and profound. It does not overwrite who you are. It reminds you that safety, balance, and vitality are already within you — waiting to be illuminated.
