Burnout and Nervous System Reset

So here you are, arriving here not because you “seeking healing”, but because you running on fumes.

Burnout. Chronic stress. Emotional overwhelm. Anxiety that won’t switch off. Sleep that doesn’t restore. A body that feels wired and tired at the same time.

When the nervous system has been under pressure for too long, insight alone doesn’t land. You can understand what’s happening and still feel stuck in it. That’s not failure — it’s physiology.

My sessions support nervous system settling and recalibration through light, colour, orientation, and guided somatic awareness. This is not talk therapy. It’s an experiential, body-based reset.

What burnout can feel like in the body

When stress becomes chronic, the autonomic nervous system can lose flexibility — the ability to shift between activation and rest.

You might notice:

• racing thoughts or constant mental activity
• shallow breathing or “holding” the breath
• tight chest, throat, jaw, or belly
• digestive disruption
• sleep disturbance
• emotional reactivity or irritability
• numbness, shutdown, or disconnection
• feeling over-sensitive to noise, light, people, or demands

None of this means you’re weak. It means your system has been carrying too much, for too long.

Light is one of the most direct sensory inputs your nervous system receives. Used carefully, it can support rhythm, settle overload, and bring attention back into the body without forcing story or analysis.

In a session I use a number of uniquely tailored and original procedures and techniques based on years of personal experience:

• projected kaleidoscopic light (gentle, titrated sensory input)
• colour mapping
• breath cues
• guided attention
• choice-led pacing

When you are overstimulated, we work to reduce noise and help your nervous system soften.

When you feel flat or shut down, we work to reintroduce vitality slowly — without flooding your system.

A trauma-sensitive, consent-led pace

These sessions are conducted slowly and with consent.

There is no forced emotional excavation. No pressure to relive anything. No requirement to talk about your history.

We work within your window of tolerance — the range where your nervous system can process experience without becoming overwhelmed or shutting down.

The aim isn’t catharsis.

The aim is regulation.

When regulation returns, clarity tends to return with it — naturally and without pushing.

Who this is for

This work may be supportive if you’re experiencing:

• professional burnout or long-term stress
• compassion fatigue / caregiver depletion
• creative exhaustion or loss of spark
• difficulty switching off
• anxiety patterns rooted in chronic activation
• emotional numbness or shutdown
• high sensitivity in busy environments
• recovery after a difficult season (life change, grief, health stress, relational strain)

International clients sometimes combine sessions with a short retreat stay to allow deeper settling time.

What you may notice afterwards

People commonly report:

• slower breathing and a softer chest
• reduced mental noise
• steadier mood and less reactivity
• improved sleep quality over subsequent nights
• clearer thinking and better decision-making
• a return of creative energy
• a felt sense of “I’m back in myself”

Results vary from person to person — but the pattern is consistent: regulation first, then everything else becomes easier.

Session options

• 90-minute Nervous System Reset (a grounded first session)
• 2-hour Deep Regulation Session (for deeper settling and integration)
• 3-Day Burnout Reset Retreat (by arrangement)
• Online Orientation Session (for international clients who want a starting point)

If you’re unsure what to book, start with the 90-minute reset. If your system is very fragile or you’re in a high-stress season, we’ll keep it simple and stabilising.

FAQ
Do I need to talk about my trauma or personal history?
No. You’re welcome to share context, but it isn’t required. The work is sensory and body-based, and always consent-led.

Is this therapy?
No. This is an experiential wellbeing session focused on nervous system settling and orientation. If you’re currently in therapy, this can be a complementary support.

How many sessions do people usually do?
Some people feel a noticeable shift after one session. Others do a short series (3–6) to build steadier regulation capacity. We decide based on your system’s response.

Can we do this online?
Online sessions are orientation-led (breath, attention, perception, and stabilising guidance). In-person sessions include the projected light component.
